EVEN AND ODDS

Limit play to certain clubs to add challenge

Do you have your favorite and least favorite clubs? This game may require you to love them all! The game can be played in an individual, match, or group competition. It’s quite simple; you can only use even numbered clubs on even numbered holes and odd numbered clubs on odd numbered holes.

Your woods have special numbers; Drivers count as #1odd) clubs, 3 Woods count as #2 even), and 5 woods odd). If players have different configurations of woods, they must declare in advance which clubs will be even and odd. The sequence should simply alternate as the loft increases.

No wedges are allowed except in green side sand traps. Putters can be used only on the green, not the fringes.

Here’s a good game format: In teams of two, each player follows the even and odd rule for club selection. The team posts their best individual net score for competition with other teams. With two caveats; 1) both scores count on the par 3’s, and 2) each player must earn two scores on par 5’s. In other words, when the course has four par fives, each member of the team must earn a score for two of them. If your course only has fewer than four par fives, each player must earn at least one of the scores.)
