PLAYERS CHOICE

Players use their handicap strokes when and where they choose in Match Play

In this game, all competitors use their handicaps in Match Play format with one critical difference: …..they get to choose when they use their handicap allocation as the game progresses. So a twelve handicapper has twelve strokes to use in any combination on any given hole on the course. After each hole - and before teeing off on the next hole, each player declares how many of their handicap strokes they wish to use on the last completed hole.

For example, if a player has 5 strokes on a par 3, they may choose to use 2 handicap strokes to make par. The game is best played with each player using their total number of handicap strokes, but can be even more strategic if you just use the stroke difference between opponents.

Be careful to keep accurate notes on your scorecard, and don’t use up your strokes too early!!
