Players earn points for good shot making
This is a great game for less experienced golfers because it encourages smart play. Players are awarded one point every time they hit fairways on their drive for par fours and fives. Points are also awarded for hitting the green in regulation. Another point is earned for making par or better.
Several variations can keep it interesting. For example, if more than one player qualifies on a hole, call it a carryover. Or, a carryover can be called if no one makes it, so that the point is available on the next fairway or green. For even more challenge, stipulate that fairway points require players stay in the fairway and make the green in regulation to qualify. Likewise, require players to make at least par to earn the point for hitting the green on par threes.
