Varsity
Pick a ball to score after initial shots are made on each hole
This format can be used as a variation for any number of multiple team games. Partners choose which player’s ball will count on each hole in the following pattern: after the team tees off on Par 3s, after the team has hit their second shot on Par 4s, and after the third shot after Par 5s. The player who’s ball is used is on “Varsity” the others are “JV.”
For example, two person teams in a foursome would tee off on a par four. After everyone hits his or her second shot, one person on each team is declared to be the ball in play on varsity). The other two become the Junior Varsity team for the competition on that hole. The two Varsity players compete to make the best net score and win the hole for the team.
In four person teams with multiple groups, the game is most fair when no individual’s ball can be used on consecutive holes.
A variation is to make the JV players part of the competition for a half point.
