A brief explanation of some of the best known competitive formats

Skins for multiple groups

Money won on every hole for low score among all

Several foursomes can enjoy a group Skins game. Everyone who is in the Skins game contributes an agreed amount into the pot. After the round is complete, the organizer runs down the scores on each hole to identify winners on various holes. The Total number of Skins won for the entire group is divided by the dollars in the pot to determine the value of each Skin. In larger groups it works best to pay 1 Skin for holes won with a par, 2 skins for holes won with a birdie and 3 skins won with an eagle or better. Carryovers stay at one Skin each in this format.

If you wish to organize a large number of players who have varying handicaps, the game is most fair if you divide the groups in two, one low handicap group and one high handicap group. The low group can play gross with the high group playing net.
