About the Course
From 1996 to 2002, The Ridge hosted a PGA Tour event for seven consecutive years—the Greater Vancouver Open and Air Canada Championship—where champions like Mike Weir and Mark Calcavecchia claimed victories. This marked British Columbia's first PGA Tour event since the late 1950s, establishing the course as one of the most significant championship venues on Canada's West Coast. The layout traverses rolling terrain across creeks and lakes, with narrow fairways and precise greens testing accuracy on every shot. The signature 18th hole is a 561-yard par-5 featuring a split fairway leading to a peninsula green, offering players the choice between an aggressive carry over water or a safe route left. The 8th hole, a 350-yard par-4, presents another risk-reward scenario over water. The heart of the back nine—holes 13 through 17—delivers the core challenge with elevation changes, water hazards, and exposure to wind. The most captivating aspect of this course lies in how it constantly forces players to choose between aggression and caution.
