Course Highlight

A world top-100 course designed by legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr., featuring a dramatic transition from oceanfront dunes on the front nine to the dense Del Monte Forest on the back nine, renowned for its exceptional difficulty and breathtaking coastal scenery.

Tournament History

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (1967-present), U.S. Amateur (1999, 2018)

About the Course

Located on the Monterey Peninsula, Spyglass Hill Golf Links is renowned for its formidable difficulty and consistently ranks among America's most challenging public courses. From 1967 to 1999, it served for 33 consecutive years as one of three rotation courses for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where professional golfers approached it with deep respect—average scores often ran several strokes higher than the companion courses. The opening five holes wind through Monterey pines and sand dunes, evoking a Scottish links character, with the 370-yard par-4 4th demanding pinpoint accuracy on a narrow fairway. The course then transitions into Del Monte Forest, where the signature par-3 8th requires a carry across a deep ravine to a green encircled by towering pines. The combination of ocean winds, bunkers, undulating terrain, and dense forest creates unpredictability on every hole—this dual personality, shifting from seaside to woodland, is what makes Spyglass Hill unforgettable.
