Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club occupies 320 acres on the Ak-Chin Indian Community's property in Maricopa, Arizona. The course has hosted the Arizona State Amateur Championships and is a U.S. Open qualifying venue. Since opening in 2002, the course has proudly played host to numerous major tournaments and events. The course offers wide fairways, but strategically placed sand bunkers, multi-tiered greens, and native grass roughs also present a challenge. The 10th hole is a 412-yard par 4. It is a dogleg right that runs alongside a pond before leading to a bunker, with the fairway bending around it to the greensite. The bunker encroaches out from the right into the fairway and fronts part of the green, a green that has more sand left and right of it than it has grass to putt on, making the decision of how much of the corner to cut with the tee shot critical.
