The Boulders Golf Club - South Course
Course Highlight
A signature desert course nestled among Sonoran boulder formations, designed by Jay Morrish, where fairways wind through ancient weathered rocks and saguaro cacti, with bobcats and coyotes roaming the terrain, delivering one of the Southwest's most dramatic desert golf experiences.
About the Course
The Boulders South Course stands as one of Arizona's most visually dramatic layouts, having earned a top-five ranking in Golf Digest's state rankings in 1987 and maintaining a consistent presence in the top 20 throughout 1989-1999. This par-71 championship course seamlessly integrates the raw beauty of the Sonoran Desert with precision target golf, creating one of the Phoenix area's most iconic desert golf experiences. The par-5 5th hole serves as the course's signature moment—players aim toward a massive boulder pile with the green tucked among six-story prehistoric rock formations. The 187-yard par-3 7th features the iconic 'Boulder's Pile' stacked rocks behind the tee, with the green protected by bunkers (one harboring a cactus) and a dramatic tier creating unpredictable putts. Holes 6, 7, and 8 form an unforgettable sequence climbing through towering rock formations, with tee boxes carved into ancient boulders and shots threading through desert canyons toward greens guarded by Rosie's Rock—a stretch that tests precision over power and leaves lasting memories.
