About the Course
Ranked among Golf Digest's Top 40 Golf Courses in Arizona (2023), The Boulders North Course has stood as one of the Southwest's most demanding desert layouts since 1985. Nestled at the base of Black Mountain in Carefree, this 6,811-yard track weaves through ancient boulder formations, creating striking contrasts between bentgrass greens and rust-colored rock outcroppings. The par-4 8th hole features massive rock formations guarding the left side of the fairway, demanding precision to avoid cacti clusters. The long par-4 11th tests courage as players must thread drives between steep rock faces. The par-3 14th plays over water from the back tees, while standing on the 9th tee box, golfers can marvel at the enormous rock dome embedded in the desert landscape behind them. The back nine is widely regarded as the toughest stretch at The Boulders, where desert winds and rock-strewn terrain make every shot an adventure in strategic golf.
